New version of Kaptain is live!

It’s been a few months since our last update, so I am excited to announce that a new version of Kaptain is live!

We have a ton of new features as well as bug fixes and improvements. I’ve broken down the features below to provide more insight what we worked on and why.

🗺️ Our map has been updated throughout Kaptain, so you can see more trail info, such as the name of each trail.

We have updated the map with a more detailed outdoor recreation centric map. You can now zoom in and see trail names, campgrounds, topography, and other outdoor recreation info.

🔍 We have added places search, so you can search for and filter places across Kaptain.
Right now, we have nearly 1500 places to choose from across 33 different outdoor sports and activities. Let’s say you only want to search for mountain bike places, select the mountain bike sport filter and search for trailhead.

🚴‍♀️ In scheduled activities or trips, you can now multi-select your gear, so you can add all your gear to your packing list at once.

This makes adding gear to your packing list real easy! I like to add my favorite gear, such as my bikes, standup paddleboards, skateboard, and backpack and then add smaller items to my packing list.

🏄🏻‍♂️ Category and sport filters in Explore now save, even after you close the app.

I am continuing to focus on making Kaptain a more custom experience based on what sports and activities you are interested in.
Soon, we will be releasing the ability to select locations you are most interested in, so Kaptain will start recommending places based on your sport and location interests.
In the mean time, filter saving was a great improvement in ensuring how you were exploring in Kaptain is saved for when you return.

✈️ You can now use Kaptain in airplane mode or poor cell service.

Whether you are on a hike, completely off-grid, or researching your next adventure on the plane, you can still use Kaptain. Whatever you were viewing will save, you just won’t be able to load new locations or create scheduled activities, trips, collections or gear.
